Overview:
The following guide will walk you through how to sign into your new NCPC Microsoft 365 account at portal.office.com and set up your new Microsoft Authenticator App on your phone
***This process is for new account creations for a new user. If you are a current user and need to set up your Multi-Factor Authenticator app, please submit a ticket to the helpdesk requesting that you need to set up your authenticator app on your mobile phone and someone from the NCPC IT team will notify you once we have reset your Mutli-Factor Authenticator settings from the Microsoft Admin portal and you are clear to proceed with following the provided guide***
1: Open your preferred web browser application from the taskbar at the bottom of your screen (Ex. shown below)
2: Copy/paste the following link into the web browser and select enter https://portal.office.com
3: Enter in your NCPC Smart Start email address and select Next
4: Enter your password and select sign in
5: Select next
6: Select next
7: You will need to download the Microsoft Authenticator application onto your mobile phone from the play store for Androids and app store for iPhones (Ex. shown below). Once installed onto your phone, select next on your computer
8: Once you have installed the application, you will be prompted to sign into your NCPC Smart Start Microsoft account. Select the + icon
9: Select Work or School Option
10: Select the option to scan QR code
11: Your camera app on your mobile phone will open, scan the QR code that appears on your computer (Ex. shown below) and select next
12: A 2-digit code will appear on your computer screen, enter the 2-digit code into your mobile app when prompted
13: Once you have entered the 2-digit code in your mobile app, select next on your computer
14: Enter a name for your app password and select next
15: Copy the password by selecting the copy icon and save to your OneDrive in your documents folder call Microsoft Authenticator backup password. Once saved, select done on your computer
16: On your mobile phone under your Microsoft Authenticator app, you will now see a new icon for North Carolina Partnership for Children (Ex. shown below)
***Once you have set up your Microsoft Authenticator application on your mobile phone, everytime you are prompted on your computer to sign into your Microsoft account, it will prompt your to enter a 6-digit code that is generated every 30 seconds in your Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone***
